Enough is Enough I was Sexually Assaulted at Work
I am sharing this to boost the frequency. This poor teacher was assaulted by a student, didn’t get any help at all, and many students filmed this. (I said in a comment that I hope this will get her some sort of vindication.)
Teachers have a tough job. When they get assaulted, the police need to get there. (Whether they are upset at the school board for removing the police in the schools or not, what does that have to do with this poor woman?) When they file a report, the report should be filed properly. And when they tell their higher-ups (school principals and vice principals, probably), they should not only be believed, but should be helped so this will never happen again.
Yesterday I texted a fellow union representative to ask how she was doing. I had heard there was a pretty big assault at her building and wanted to lend support. I was stunned when she replied. “I am not ok, I was sexually assaulted.” I told her that I would do anything I could to help her, and offered my blog as a way to share what happened. These are her words. This is her story.
On Friday, October 8, 2021, I was sexually assaulted at work.
After calling 911 repeatedly, reporting in person to the Public Safety Building, and waiting 7 hours to file my police report, I’ve been told that it’s now missing.
I was failed by my workplace and again by my city.
I have nowhere left to turn.

There was a case in Virginia where a student was raping his fellow students and the school district was “handling it in house”.
IE The School District just moved the student to other schools.
Oh, in the latest rape, the school called the police on the girl’s father when he “objected” to the school “handing it in house”. Oh, the rapist had worn a skirt to enter the girl’s restroom where he raped the girl.

This is horrendous. We have the similar issues in the UK. These matters need to be addressed robustly.

I agree with you in part and there are cases where I would ‘hold their coat’. And you really do not want to know my response on finding the creature who perpetrated that filthy act.
Overall though I have as many misgivings about the judgement of the private citizen as I have over the consistency of government.

Indeed myriad concerns.
In the UK when paedophilia finally became a public topic of concern Paediatricians were targeted by the ignorant who had mixed up the words.
The counter-reaction was during a demonstration by mothers on low income for more police surveillance/protection for children on their housing site-there had been one child murder. A woman living in a wealthy suburb was horrified by the site of ‘this mob’ and said she would rather have a paedophile living next door to her….I heard that on the radio.
The last thing a lot of men driving in the UK will do these days is stop to ask directions from anyone other than an obvious adult. More than one has been attacked or at best reported.

Yeah. People vary widely and wildly as to what they believe and how they’re going to act, especially in a crisis situation.
I just know that these poor teachers have to be given not only solace and guarantees this won’t happen again, but help.

Only if there is a cultural shift Barb and in this men have to stand up, take the lead and get the message home this is not how ‘True Men’ act.

Yes, when we’re upset and things haven’t happened, lots of times there are riots and worse. (We’ve seen that in Kenosha in the past few years, as I’ve written about here.)
I don’t know what the answers are, Paul. I just know that we have to keep looking for them — and hold our politicians accountable (by voting them out, if need be) when laws are inadequate or (in some cases) flat-out wrong. (The laws against medical marijuana in many states come to mind.)
